The Men’s Leadership Project at the University of Virginia develops leadership skills and healthy conceptions of masculinity in Charlottesville-area boys and men through education and mentoring. MLP fosters a gender-aware perspective that acknowledges a wide range of masculinities, and encourages active participation in respectful and anti-violent community roles for men and boys while focusing on three core concepts: Authenticity, Respect, and Strength.

Dr. Christopher Kilmartin, a Professor of Psychology at The University of Mary Washington, is the author The Masculine Self. He is an expert on men's issues with experience in campus programming on sexual assault, gender, and diversity. Dr. Kilmartin is also responsible for bringing the White Ribbon Campaign to the US from Canada. Crimes Against Nature, a solo performance piece written and performed by Dr. Kilmartin, is a tremendously funny look at the challenges and contradictions of growing up male in America. This event counts as an FOA.

Neil Irvin is the executive director of Men Can Stop Rape and is a highly committed and collaborative professional with over 25 years of youth development and leadership experience. Men Can Stop Rape seeks to mobilize men to use their strength for creating cultures free from violence, especially men’s violence against women. He is responsible for the organization's award-winning youth development program and Strength Media public awareness campaign. This event counts as an FOA.
